What is LawStudentGuru?
LawStudentGuru is a social networking site designed specifically for law students. Our members can share outlines and case briefs, buy and sell used textbooks and meet new friends from law schools around the country.

I’m not a law student, can I join?
At this time, we are only accepting membership applications from currently enrolled law students. However, if you are a pre-law student we have resources that are specifically designed for you including a forum for students considering law school on our message boards and information about the LSAT, law school admission and law schools around the nation.

What happens to my profile after I graduate from law school?
At that time you will be given the option to become a
LawGuru Attorney Member and part of a community of thousands of attorneys from around the world.

How do I join?
Application for membership is simple. Click
here and complete the information on the short questionnaire. Once you have submitted your application, a confirmation message will be sent to your email and you will be directed to a confirmation page. Copy the confirmation code from the email and insert it the box on the confirmation page. Then you will be ready to go.

I joined, now what?
The first thing you should do is complete any missing information from your profile and upload a photo. As a new member, you may also want to familiarize yourself with your Home Page, browse through our library of free outlines and case briefs, and search through the other student members -who knows, maybe you’ll reconnect with an old friend from college or make a new friend.

How do I edit/change my profile?
To edit your profile, simply click on the “Edit Profile” link in the center of the home page. You will be taken to a screen containing all of your information. Make any edits you would like and hit the “Update” button at the bottom of the page.

How do I upload a photo?
To upload a photo, click on the “Edit Photo” link below the photo pane. Click the “Browse” button to locate the photo on your computer. Once you have located the photo, click “Upload” and you’re done.

How do I delete a photo?
To delete a photo, click on the “Edit Photo” link located below your existing photo. Click on the delete button.

What is a LawStudentGuru “Friend”?
A LawStudentGuru “Friend” is another member with whom you wish to keep in more frequent touch. He/she may be another student at your school, a friend from college or just someone that you would like to get to know better.

How do I request that someone be my “Friend”?
It’s easy – when looking at another member’s profile, click on the “Add to Friends” link located below their photo. At that time, a request will be sent to that member informing them that you would like to add them to your friends list.

How do I remove a “friend” from my profile page?
Click on the “edit friends/blocked members” link located above your Friends bar. Click on the “Friends” link on the left hand side of the screen. Check the box of any friends you would like to remove and hit the “Delete” button.

Someone has invited me to be their “friend,” what do I do?
You can keep track of both the friend invitations you receive and the friend requests you’ve made in the “My Friends” section of your home page. Click on the “Edit friends/blocked members” link located above the friends bar. Click on the “Invited You” link on the left hand side of the screen. Check the box of any member you wish to accept or decline as a friend.

How do I send a message to another member?
Find the member’s profile that you wish to contact using one of the search members features on the home page. Click on the “contact” link to the right of their photo. A message box will pop up with their address already inserted. Complete your message, then hit send.

I need an outline, what do I do?
LawGuru has a library of hundreds of outlines from law schools around the country. To access these outlines, simply click on the “Outline/Brief” tab at the top of your home page. You can search by subject, law school, casebook title, author (of the outline), professor, term and/or year.

How do I share an outline I wrote?
Sharing your outlines with our grateful members is easy. Click on the “Outline/Brief” tab at the top of your home page. Click on the “Add Outline/Brief” button on the left hand toolbar. Fill in the requested information, browse for your outline on your computer, then click “Add Outline.” The outline will be added to our library. If you would prefer to have other members contact you to request the outline, do not “Browse” for the file, but rather leave the space empty. The information for your outline will be displayed in searches, but other members will be required to contact you for a copy of the outline.

I need a case brief, what do I do?
LawGuru has a library of free case briefs from law schools around the country. To view our library, simply click on the “Outline/Brief” tab at the top of your home page. Enter the name of the case you are searching for and click “Search Briefs.”

How do I share my case briefs with other members?
Click on the “Outline/Brief” tab at the top of your home page. Click on the “Add Outline/Brief” button on the left hand tool bar. Fill in the requested information, browse for your case brief on your computer, then click “Add Brief.” The brief will be added to our library. If you would prefer to have other members contact you to request the brief rather than uploading it, do not “Browse” for the file, but rather leave the space empty. The information for your case brief will be displayed in searches, but other members will be required to contact you for a copy.

How do I search for a used casebook?
Click on the “Used Casebook” tab at the top of your home page. You can search for a casebook by subject, title or author. The search results will list all casebooks matching your criteria. If you are interested in a casebook, click on the “Contact Owner” link and a message box with the owners address already inserted will appear.
